There are very few Twitter Desktop clients that actually are worth using and that can keep up to the expectations. One such is the Seesmic Desktop. Seesmic has just launched the second iteration of its desktop twitter client – Seesmic Desktop 2 packed with some nice features.
Going by the path set by Tweetdeck (the reigning king among desktop twitter clients if I may call it), Seesmic 2 now offers support for more social services like Facebook, LinkedIn, Foursquare, Google Buzz, Flickr, Formspring, Myspace, EBay, and Last.fm along with Twitter ofcourse. Much like Tweetdeck, you can add/remove any services anytime you want and is more customizable than its predecessors.
The video below, from TechCrunch TV, shows the new features in Seesmic Desktop 2 (SD2).

Although there is an official Twitter app for Android (Twitter for Andriod), fans have been eagerly waiting for something awesome from the Tweetdeck team. In case you don’t know, Tweetdeck is one of the best Twitter client for desktops, the iPhone, and the iPad. And Tweetdeck not just supports Twitter but also Facebook, Myspace, LinkedIn, Google Buzz and Foursquare.

Tweetdeck, describing the app’s features, said,
Well, for starters, we have not just taken the well-trodden path of pulling together some basic screens and calling it an app. TweetDeck has been totally built from the ground up with a new approach. It’s still TweetDeck, with a column-based layout as you’d expect, but we have pushed the boundaries of what you should expect from an app in several ways:
Blended columns, Smooth slick UI, Clever composing, key features at your fingertips, Quick access to favorite friends and more…
The app is currently in beta and is not available in the Android Marketplace but you can still download it by signing up here. You will soon receive an email with the download links and instructions to install it on your mobile device. If you are running Android, the app is more than worth a try.

Twitter for iPhone seems to be the one of the first twitter client to embrace the awesomeness of the iOS. The latest update [iTunes link] of the app now supports iOS and thereby brings in support for OAuth, multitasking and Retina Display.
Although the above mentioned support is not officially stated on the app store, users who have downloaded the update claim the multitasking abilities whereas Loren Brichter confirms the app has been customized for Retina Display of the iPhone 4. I’ve said it earlier and I say it again, Twitter for iPhone is a must have app. Download it now.

If you are single, using Twitter and long for that perfect stranger, you might want to give a shot to ‘Plenty of Tweeps’ – an online dating platform for twitter users. Just login to the service with your Twitter account and start browsing (hunting! ;)
the other sex. You can search people based on location, get to know them and start (mushy) conversations with them. The best part is, you can take all your flirty exchanges off of your official Twitter timeline so your other followers are spared the embarrassment.

Plenty of Tweeps is a relatively new service and has a great potential to be a success if more and more users get registered. The stress is on the word ‘if’.

The wait is over. The official Twitter app for the iPhone is now available on the Apple’s app store. Formerly known as Tweetie until version 2, the excellent and highly acclaimed app was acquired by Twitter a few months ago. Now it’s available for download under the name ‘Twitter for iPhone’ and is apparently labelled ‘version 3.0’. Before the acquisition, the app was priced $2.99 on the app store which can now be downloaded for free.
Twitter for iPhone (aka Tweetie 3.0) is definite to surpass the awesomeness of its predecessors. It’s a must have app on the iPhone.
Previously we did a post on official Twitter app for the Android. Do check it out too.
