Few days ago, we narrowed the official Windows Phone 7 launch date down to Oct. 11. But recent news from multiple sources are indicating that the mobile OS might land up a little late. Windows Phone 7 is expected to launch on Oct. 21 in the European countries and as per Paul Thurrott’s ‘very reliable source’, the US launch date is on Nov. 8. There’s still no official declaration from Microsoft about the launch date.

In a video below, PocketNow compared the iPhone and a prototype Windows Phone 7 phone and showed the differences in the interface and totally different approaches the two platforms works upon to perform tasks. The home-screen itself shows clear differences. While iPhone is an application-centric platform that shows different icons for applications on the homescreen, the Windows Phone 7 phone follows the action-centric approach whereby dynamic tiles showing live feeds of data are displayed on the homescreen. Few days ago we posted some cool Windows Phone 7 App demos and we can sense the exponentially increasing excitement among Microsoft fans now that the Windows Phone 7 is about to be released. However, we were not certain of exactly when. Until now.
According to Pocketlint, Windows Phone 7 will be launched on October 11, 2010 in an event in New York and the Windows Phone 7 based devices will go on sale later that month. Loads of devices from major manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, Dell, Asus, LG are waiting for WP7.
Windows Phone 7 is an upcoming mobile platform developed my Microsoft and is expected to be a tough competitor to other mobile OSes like iOS, Android, WebOS and the like.
