In a recent, disheartening news, Paypal has taken some horrendous steps that, quite simply mean ‘death of online transactions’ for India-based Paypal users. You can read about it in detail here.
There are many small business owners, independent freelancers and individuals in India who rely completely on Paypal for overseas transactions. However, they are now forced to settle for nothing or to look for alternatives. I am happy to say that there are many of them but hardly a few that match with the quality of services Paypal provide. So, in no particular order:
- AlertPay – I am still checking it out. So far, it’s great.
- Western Union – I have heard a lot about it being nice and convenient.
- Google Checkout – Offers only the basic features.
- DirecPay
- Moneybookers
- PayMate
- DigitalRiver
I may change the list and/or add new services. Of course, you can send in your suggestions too.
In a recent announcement, Mozilla claimed that the very popular Skype Addon for Firefox caused more than 40,000 browser crashes last week and hence been held in blocklist indefinitely.
Skype toolbar is a browser addon that is installed automatically when Skype is installed or updated. This toolbar detects phone numbers on a webpage and re-renders it in a form of a button. To make a call, the user simply has to click the button.
