Some interesting news is coming our way. Nokia, the mobile phone giant, has rolled up sleeves and has entered the laptop race. Nokia recently launched Booklet 3G – a brand new netbook power packed with some usual and some not so usual features. Why is this netbook important? Well, it comes from a company that changed the face of cell phones all around the world so this netbook surely seems like a big deal.
Of course when it comes from Nokia, the Booklet 3G has to be connectivity-centric. The specifications say that it has integrated 3G wireless module, Bluetooth, a SIM card slot which definitely makes it a laptop-cum-mobile phone, A-GPS with Ovi maps, HDMI output all packed inside a sophisticated aluminium body weighing no more than 1.25 kg (2.7 lbs). Nokia claims the Booklet 3G’s battery life to be 12 hours which is not so great for a netbook but pretty decent. However, there is still no indications about the price and the date of the official release to the public which means Nokia fanboys have to wait a little bit more to get their hands dirty on this netbook-cum-mobile phone. This is funny but if you believe in the research results, this might give you an eerie feeling. A research was done recently to see whether inserting more and more songs into an iPod or MP3 players make them actually heavy. The results turned out to be shocking.
The results showed that iPods, iPhones and MP3 players get a ‘little’ heavy upon installing files in them. The tests were done by weighing an empty iPod and a full one. The difference turned out to be 0.4 grams. Upon filling 3500 songs in a 16GB iPhone, it weighed 133.6 grams compared to an empty iPhone which weighed 133.2 grams. Professor Roger Banks quoted that this was for the first time a digital data has been measured in a real world measuring unit. We all know it is made up of 0s and 1s but the ratio of ones to zeros actually seems to make a difference. Further research is being carried on to ascertain whether different file formats weigh differently with the same file size. [via]
