If you own a cell phone then I am sure you wished to reverse check a phone number atleast once. It may be a mysterious blank call or someone you want to secretly stalk. The reason is irrelevant but you wanted to know the location of the phone number right? Well, reverse phone number search or location tracing methods are probably as old as the invention of phones but they were not for individuals like you and me…untill now!
TP2Location is a web-based application that lets you trace out the geographical location of almost any phone number across the globe. Just visit TP2Location website, enter the phone number in a textbox and click a button. The web app traces out the geographical location of the phone number along with the wireless carrier details. Cool, if you were to ask me. I mean this much information for free, right?
Entering the mobile number:

TP2Location fetches results:

When I tried some of my known phone numbers using the format +919xxxxxxxxx (+91 for India) it gave me results upto state level precision along with the wireless carrier.
The results for US phone numbers are even more precise. Considering the service still in its Beta, this is not too bad at all. I expect the results will be narrowed down further as the service evolves. For now, you can check it out by clicking the link below. Digg it or Tweet about it to share it with your friends and followers.

Yes, I know it’s a long title but well that’s exactly what I am going to write about. First of all, Merry Christmas to all my readers and my apologies for no new posts for 4 days. It was in these holidays that I really needed to forward some of beautiful greetings that I received from my friends to my family members. I thought there should be a way to forward specific mails to a different email address in Gmail. It didn’t took me a while to figure it out. Here’s the small trick so you don’t have to goof around:
Gmail: Auto forward specific emails to a different email address
» Login to your Gmail account and click ‘Settings’ on the top-right.
» Click ‘Filters’ tab > ‘Create a new filter’ (located bottom-center).
» Now choose the criteria for which you wish to forward an incoming mail to different email address. Here the permutations and combinations are many. Fill in your desired criteria and click ‘Next Step »’ button.
» Here, check the ‘Forward it to:’ option and click ‘Create Filter’.
There you are! Obviously this filter won’t forward older emails falling into the criteria you specified.

Although it seems a noob thing, it’s actually not. Sometimes even the so-called professionals can’t figure out a simple thing. It so happened that I was goofing around on Facebook and unknowingly clicked the ‘Hide’ button on my friend’s news-feed only to find myself fumbling for settings to revert it back. Facebook’s settings control is extensive but ergonomically average. Finally I figured out a way to get it right. It was just a matter of a mere click on a link that easily manages to escape your sight.
» Select the ‘News Feed’ tab on the left pane, navigate to the bottom of your Facebook page and click on the ‘Edit Options’ link.
» A new window will appear where you can unhide people/pages by clicking the small cross mark against their name.

Recently I did a post on merging/deleting duplicate contacts in Windows Live Hotmail and now I am happy that even Gmail has incorporated this feature. So without much ado, here’s how you merge duplicate contacts in Gmail.
Merging duplicate contacts in Gmail:
1) In your Gmail account, click ‘Contacts’ in the left pane.
2) Now in the right pane, click the button that reads ‘Find duplicates’
3) It will take 15 seconds max (depends on your contact list) to detect dupes. When it finishes, it’ll display the duplicate contacts with the number of times they are duplicated. You can choose not to merge some contacts by unchecking them. Finally click ‘Merge’ button on top.
Merging duplicate contacts in Gmail was something that I really wished for. It’ll be like a dream come true for those who sync Gmail contacts with their smart phones frequently.

By now you must be well aware of the fact that Facebook has recently tweaked the ‘Privacy Settings’ which lends you more control over your content on the popular social networking site. As soon as you log in to Facebook, a pop up is shown, urging you to re-set your privacy settings (if you haven’t).
What most users miss out is that you are now granted much more customizability in terms of making your content available to only those whom you wish. Today I am going to show you how you can show (or hide) your status updates to specific people irrespective of them being in your friend list. Assuming you have already set the new ‘Privacy Settings’, here’s what you need to do.
» Log into Facebook, write a new status update and click the small ‘lock’ icon below.
» In the menu, click ‘Customize’.
» A pop-up window will appear where you can specify who can view your status update. Start writing the name of a contact in the boxed below. Keep in mind, unless you check-mark ‘Make this my default setting’, the setting will be restricted to your current status update only. Finally click ‘Save Setting’.
» You are done! I know. The first thing you’ll do is to write ‘I hate my boss’ and hide it from him. ;)
