Google Image Search gets even better

Did you notice the Google Image Search lately? If not, a very awesome experience awaits you. Google’s Image Search has been revamped and is now much more useable than ever. Finally the annoying frame view has been done away with and the results page is now packed with densely placed pictures, giving you more image results in a single glance.

Now when you hover over an image, it expands a bit to give with a small description; clicking it takes you to the full image. I really liked the layout where you can see only the images while the description appears only when hovering over it.

Next great feature is the ‘endless’ scrolling. You are not limited to a small number of images displayed on a page. The endless scrolling provides thousands of images on a single page. Apart from the notable visual changes, the search algorithms have also been tweaked for good. For example, searching yellow colored ‘Ferrari model 2009’ gives you image results that has Yellow Ferrari made in 2009 and not the ones where there’s a Ferrari parked against a yellow background. You got the point, right? It’s more semantic, more human.

As I mentioned, when you click an image, it directly takes you to the full sized image with the source page loaded in the background. Just click outside the image to view the page. Pretty neat! Go ahead, try the new Google Image Search. :)
