For: $50 million
A social search service where users connect with friends and build up a network. They get to ask and answer questions. A very good service for those who seek subjective human responses to their queries and get recommendations.

reMail was a iPhone app that claimed to provide fast full-text search for Gmail and IMAP email accounts. After the acquisition, the app was discontinued and the company’s CEO, Gabor Cselle joined Google. reMail’s underlying technology is now merged with Gmail.

An online photo-editing service. It fetches your photos from popular sites like Picasa Web albums, Facebook, Flickr and MySpace and let your edit them online. It has been merged with Google Picasa.

For: $25 million
An online word processing, spreadsheet and presentation service originally developed by Writely Team. It is now merged with Google Docs.
Acquired on: 2nd April, 2010
A platform for broadcasting live and on-demand video to the web and web-enabled devices. Helpful to publishers and marketers to host, stream and monetize online video. It’s now merged with YouTube.

Plink, now Google Goggles, is a visual image search engine specially developed for mobile phones.
Agnilux
Acquired on: 20th April, 2010
An secretive semiconductor start-up by Apple employees. Angilux is speculated to make highly advanced processors for servers capable to fuel the huge data centers of the giant.
Acquired on: 27th April, 2010
LabPixies is an Israel based widget creator company that previously developed widgets for iGoogle. Google acquired LabPixies to popularize iGoogle in Africa and Middle East.
