It’s almost six months since Windows 7 launched so there was been quite a speculation that a service pack may get issued by Microsoft. In this regard, Microsoft finally broke silence and announced that Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 will be made available “soon”.
Microsoft spokesperson said that the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 will contain just the “minor” patches while the SP1 for Windows Server 2008 R2 will be a bit more significant. The latter will involve a revamped Remote Desktop client to work in compatibility with the the new remote-access platform – RemoteFX.
Although Microsoft hasn’t unveiled the dates for Windows 7 SP1, going by the schedule of Vista where Microsoft took 8 months to deliver the the first service pack from Vista’s launch date, we can expect Windows 7 Service Pack 1 to be made available latest by December 2010.
