Coming in 2010: Android powered HTC BravoSeems like HTC has finally narrowed down to the Android powered HTC Bravo to be its ‘flagship’ product for 2010 giving one more reason to cheer to HTC and Android lovers. Although very scant information is available about HTC Bravo, ai.rs revealed its first look. If rumours are believed to be true, HTC Bravo is expected to hit the US market by Jan 2010, assuming the name ‘HTC Passion’ and in the European markets by April, 2010.

Facebook: Show your Status Updates to only specific peopleBy now you must be well aware of the fact that Facebook has recently tweaked the ‘Privacy Settings’ which lends you more control over your content on the popular social networking site. As soon as you log in to Facebook, a pop up is shown, urging you to re-set your privacy settings (if you haven’t).

What most users miss out is that you are now granted much more customizability in terms of making your content available to only those whom you wish. Today I am going to show you how you can show (or hide) your status updates to specific people irrespective of them being in your friend list. Assuming you have already set the new ‘Privacy Settings’, here’s what you need to do.

»  Log into Facebook, write a new status update and click the small ‘lock’ icon below.

Facebook - Status update privacy control

» In the menu, click ‘Customize’.

Facebook - Status update privacy control

» A pop-up window will appear where you can specify who can view your status update. Start writing the name of a contact in the boxed below. Keep in mind, unless you check-mark ‘Make this my default setting’, the setting will be restricted to your current status update only. Finally click ‘Save Setting’.

» You are done! I know. The first thing you’ll do is to write ‘I hate my boss’ and hide it from him. ;)

Skype 4.2 Beta for Windows : What’s new

Skype 4.2 Beta for Windows : What’s newSkype Thought I should better make a post about it because I personally am a regular user of Skype and can get a little excited when a new (and overdue) version is out bringing some new features and some old features back to life.

Some hours ago, Skype released its 4.2 Beta version which is more like an update to the previous version as it seems to have fixed certain bugs and brought these features:

Skype Access – (Pay-per-minute WiFi Access)

This particularly comes handy when you are out somewhere and need an internet connection badly. You can use the Skype’s credit to access WiFi hotspots (just in case you don’t have your login details handy). And yes, it has a pulse rate of a minute.

Go to ‘Tools’ > ‘Skype Access…’

Transfer calls – (…to one of your contacts)

This is a no brainer. Using this feature, you can transfer a call to someone else on your contact list. You are an executive in a company and a client calls you up. You can transfer the call to your boss’s computer or landline or even his mobile.

Optimized for Windows 7

Skype 4.2 Beta is improvised to work seamlessly with Windows 7 with jump-lists and some tweaks to the functionality in the notification area.

Misc. improvements:

I have experienced some good improvements in the overall quality of the voice and video calls and it’s ability to slightly deteriorate the video quality when some other application uses the internet connection also seems to have tweaked for good.

Even though it’s still in a Beta, I think you should try it out. There are some introductory videos you might want to have a look.

How to: Change owner in Google DocsGoogle DocsQuick tip for Beginners.

Google Docs is improving at a steady pace by frequently putting in useful features. One of the latest feature enables you to change the owner of the document. This comes handy when you are working in a group on a document and you have to assign the ownership of the document to some other member. Moreover, Google has made it easily accessible by putting the option in the ‘More actions’ menu.

Change the owner of a document in Google Docs:

» Open Google Docs and select the document whose ownership you want to assign to someone else.

» Click ‘More actions’ > ‘Change Owner’.

Change owner in Google Docs

» A window appears which makes the whole process even more intuitive. Just type in the name or email in the ‘New owner:’ field. Or you can very well choose from contacts by clicking its link beside.

» Click ‘Change owner’ and you are done. To me, this came in pretty handy recently and thanks to Google for pushing this feature right in time when I actually needed it. Enjoy!

Google search results goes real-time

December 8, 2009 1:40 am by Jal

Google search results goes real-timeWell, why not? This was expected to happen sooner or later. With Twitter and Facebook making the world speak the language of ‘real-time’ updates, Google is not going to stay behind. Soon you will be able to see your Google search results update themselves real-time.

Not just that, Google is believed to have joined hands with Facebook, MySpace and Twitter to pull out ‘real-time’ juice from social networking sites and display them accordingly in the search results. This is definitely a strong move and can be considered as a major milestone in Google’s timeline.

Although you may have to wait for a few days or may be weeks to experience Google’s real-time search results UPDATE: Google real time search goes live.

a video demo is always there to give you a glimpse of what’s coming.

How to: Make a screenshot grid with Media Player ClassicYou must have come across websites that display screenshots of movies and videos arranged in a grid. They are very neat and have a small description about the video on top. You too can make a tidy screenshot grid of your video and share it via email and forums. I assume you have Media Player Classic (MPC) installed in your PC (it’s also available as a bundled software with K-Lite Mega Codec Pack )

» Open your video in MPC and click ‘File’ > ‘Save Thumbnails…

Making a screenshot grid

» In the ‘Save As’ window, the following options will appear:

Here you can set the number of rows and columns you want in the screenshot grid along with the desired width of the entire image. Once you save it, the image will show the grid of screenshots covering the entire length of the video.
