Auto linking feature in Windows Live Writer

September 10, 2009 17:19 pm by Jal

We know that there are many offline blog tools available now, one of the best being the Windows Live Writer (part of the Windows Live Essentials suite). These blog tools offer many features which are sometimes ignored. One such useful feature is Auto linking in WLW.

Auto linking feature basically makes a predefined word in to link so that whenever you write that word, it becomes a link to the related content. This saves your time because you don’t have to make a hyperlink to a word everytime you use it. For example, if I want the words ‘Tech Explorer’ to become a link to my website ‘http://www.techexplorer.in’ everytime I use it, then I will add its entry to the Auto linking feature. Here’s how you do it:

1) Open Windows Live Writer. Go to ‘Tools’ >> ‘Options…’ >> ‘Auto Linking…’

2) Press ‘Add’ button to make an entry. Save changes when done.

Now whenever you write the predefined word, WLW will automatically make it a link to the URL you provided. Enjoy Blogging!
