Windows 7 build 7057: Fix desktop.ini popping up

Many of you have experienced this. You install your oven fresh new Windows 7 build you just ‘got’ and you are amazed by its ever changing features and ease of use that get better with every new build. But on the other hand, you also get annoyed by that new bug which never existed in previous versions. Windows 7 is currently in the RC build so we can still let go some minor bugs. :)

Now the bug is that every time you boot Windows 7, you are welcomed with this awful desktop.ini file opened in a notepad. Quite frustrating when this happens everytime. Here’s a quick fix.

Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and delete desktop.ini

Navigate to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and delete desktop.ini if present.
